FAMILY LEAGUE QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER

JULY 2019

PUBLIC POLICY

Summer is a busy time for our Policy Team! While we’re not in Annapolis quite as much, we are still tracking very closely the developments of the Kirwan Commission’s Funding Formula Workgroup. This is the group that will determine the “per-pupil” cost of education, and how much each county (and Baltimore City) will invest in education in relation to the State’s investment. We are advocating for funding formulas that count all students accurately and completely, and which will strengthen the future of public education in Baltimore City for years to come! The training will offer guidance to attendees on how to quickly get from talk to action so that programs can better tell the story of their work and begin to figure out if anyone is better off. Participants will experience a mix of lecture, group activities, and individual practice throughout the session.
